The Ajurrumiyyah

The first nahw book — how a word sits in the sentence

Sarf is the mould of the word. Nahw is the chair it sits on. Until you know the chair, you can hover a root and still misread who did what to whom.

This is the matn of Ibn Ajurrum of Fez (died 723 AH). Madrasas still open it first. Nur gives his divisions in plain English, with one Quran line under each door. It is not a replacement for a living teacher, and it is not a later sharh pasted from a publisher.
