وَلَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اللَّهُ بِبَدْرٍ وَأَنتُمْ أَذِلَّةٌ

Badr, Uhud, and the Confederates

The maghazi are where Tabari is most used by later sirah. He dates by year, names the dead, and keeps the isnads of Ibn Ishaq, Urwah, and al-Zuhri. Badr is in the Quran. Uhud is in the Quran. al-Ahzab is in the Quran. The Tarikh is the camp-register under those surahs.
The Prophet ﷺ arranged them at Badr. He ﷺ raised his hands until his cloak fell from his shoulders: O Allah, if you destroy this band, you will not be worshipped on the earth.

How to weigh this
Casualty lists and the exact place of a banner can differ between Ibn Ishaq and Musa ibn Uqbah. That is the nature of maghazi. The victories and the lessons do not wait on a head-count.
