Here Tabari and Bukhari are almost one page. The Cave, the angel, Iqra, Khadijah, Waraqah. When the Tarikh and Sahih al-Bukhari tell the same hour, read Bukhari’s wording as the spine and Tabari as the wider camp of transmitters.
The angel came to him and said: Recite. He said: I am not a reciter. The angel pressed him until he could bear it no more, then released him and said: Recite. Three times. Then he revealed: Recite in the name of your Lord who created.
Aishah — Bukhari 3 · Muslim 160. Tabari reports the same beginning of wahy.
This is sahih. Treat Tabari’s extra sentences around it as optional cloth.
How to weigh this
Starting-wahy is not a place for israiliyyat. Stay with Aishah’s hadith. Tabari is a witness that the historians and the muhaddithun met at Hira.
